Welders - Journey Persons and Apprentices
The Welder
will adhere to design specifications to produce quality products by joining and
making metal parts used to manufacture, or repair, various heavy equipment
attachments in a timely fashion to meet Customer needs. The Welder uses different welding processes
and fillers, dependent upon the type of metal, its size and shape, and requirements
for finished product strength. Under the
direction of the Lead Hand you’re your primary responsibilities will include
but are not limited to:
§
Develops patterns for projects, if
necessary
§
Reads and interprets blueprints or
welding process specifications
§
Follows directions given in layouts,
drawings and work orders
§
Cleans and checks parts for defects
§
Repairs worn parts of metal products by
welding on extra layers
§
Starts up, shuts down, adjusts and
monitors robotic welding
§
Operates and uses various welding shop
equipment and tools safely at all times, which includes some or all of the
following:
§
Maintains and repairs welding equipment
§
Builds up worn parts by welding layers of
high-strength hard-metal alloys onto them when necessary
§
Bonds metal parts or fills holes, indentations and
seam of metal articles
§
Adjusts welding heads and tools
according to work specifications, if required
